By the time you have reached this page you have probably read about the Worlds first relocatable high security, light-weight safe, the Australian designed and made Hide Away Safe.
The Hide Away Safe allows you to secure valuable items (laptop computers, camera equipment, sensitive documents etc) in it and then secure the safe box in it's docking station that is securely fitted to a solid object i.e. to a floor, under a desk etc.
How do you secure your valuable items when you have no access to your securely fitted docking station?

mk2 Hide Away Safe box partially in the steel Shroud and Cable Assembly. When the safe box is fully in, it locks onto the docking station with the security key provided. The whole unit is then secured with the Cable to something that is fixed to a solid item i.e. around the seat in a vehicle. |

The following describes the Shroud and Cable Assembly.
Shroud
The Shroud is manufactured from welded 3mm thick steel powder coated black. There are two size available, one to fit the mk2 docking station and the other to fit the mk3 docking station.
The shroud has 4 corner (cable) anchor points at the rear for ease of use and pleasant aesthetics. Each side has numerous punched holes suitable for concealed fixing of the unit on its edges, back or top if required.
The top has 12 high tensile m5x8mm clinch studs with shake proof washers and high tensile nuts to suit the existing fixing holes in the Hide Away Safe Docking Station, leaving an additional 8 holes for conventional fixing down of the Shroud & Docking Station if required.

Cable
Supplied with the Steel Shroud is a 1.8 meter long spring coiled 10mm plastic coated 8mm oversized steel cable (Handgun legislation in the ACT only specified 6mm cable) with an extra heavy duty 4 stage combination lock.
To fit the Cable to the Steel Shroud.
- First, remove the safe box from the docking station.
- Second, slide the Cable through at least two of the four corner anchor points of the Steel Shroud.
- Third, loop one end around something solid and connect it to the combination lock on the other end.
Although the Hide Away Safe in the Steel Shroud is not bolted down it remains thief proof via the oversized 8mm steel cable that is attached to something solid for example, a seat bracket in a vehicle.
By using the Shroud and Cable Assembly the Hide Away range of safes and their contents should remain absolutely secure, even though they are not fully installed in the conventional manner.
The cable can also be used to facilitate additional security of brief cases, suit cases, tool boxes, camera cases even a second Hide Away Safe while carried in a vehicle.
The Shroud can be purchased separately from the Cable and pre-attached to a docking station if required.
